The potbox is the throttle control in an EV. It tells the controller how much power needs to be sent to the motor. The potbox lever is attached to the existing throttle cable. The box translates foot pressure into a variable resistance to let the controller know how fast you want to go. There is also a safety switch inside that helps prevent the electric car from starting with the accelerator pedal to the floor.
0-5K resistor with microswitch for contactor control.
